London 2010. Ich sitze in Clovis's Pub The George und trinke Whisky. Pur versteht sich. Es ist 4 Uhr am Nachmittag. Wir tanzen, malen, plaudern über London, Mode, Schmuck. Clovis und seine Freunde sind gerade vom feiern nach Hause gekommen. Irgendeine Party gestern Nacht. Clovis Wilson-Copp ist so ein Typ Mensch, dem man Stundenlang zuhören kann. Wenn er über seine Modelzeiten erzählt und wie er mit Karl Lagerfeld Cola Light getrunken hat, wenn er über Parties im Londoner Untergrund, aber vor allem wenn er über seinen Schmuck erzählt, kommt man nicht ums schwärmen herum.

Nach Jahren im Modelbusiness hat es ihm irgendwann gereicht und er hat begonnen Schmuckdesign zu studieren. Heute ein paar Jahre später, waren seine Schmuckstücke in diversen Zeitungen abgebildet und die Leute reissen sich förmlich nach diesen wunderschönen Teilen. Mir haben es besonders die Uhren und Ringe angetan. Alle Teile werden auf Bestellung gefertigt und sind somit Unikate. Musik inspiriert ihn. Wenn er ein Lied hört, dann kommen ihm die Ideen für seine Werke von ganz alleine, sag er und man glaubt es ihm sofort. Seine Frau ist eine weitere Inspirationsquelle. Sie ist Künstlerin und gemeinsam leben sie in den Tag hinein und leben ihre Kreativität frei aus. An diesem besagten Nachmittag malen wir ein Bild zusammen - mit Kreide auf eine alte Tafel. Schönes freies London!

One of the nominées if not even a winner should be the already classic by Prada (above). Imagining this fashionable Oscar to be rose-gold-gilt so just a touch of Valentino red lipstick mixed to the gold, being presented by ... your choice. Who should present the Best Fashion Feature Film Oscar?

Die Oscars sind vorbei, doch gäbe es die Möglichkeit eine weitere Kathegorie zur Ausawahl der Academy hinzuzufügen, sollte es "Best Fashion Feature Film" sein. Die Herbst/Winter Kollektion 2010 der französischen Designerin Isabel Marant: It-Models Erin Wasson, Dewi Driegen, Freja Beha, Anja Rubik etc. plus Fifties 3/4 Glitzer Hosen, gefolgt von spitzen Pumps mit Masche vornehmlich in schwarz und in Kombination mit Denim hier und da, ein bisschen angedeuteter Schulter, farbenfrohe aber der kalten Jahreszeit entsprechend gedeckte Seidenprints und voila fertig ist, wonach wir uns im Winter verzehren werden.

French designer Isabel Marant's Fall/Winter collection 2010: It-models like Erin Wasson, Dewi Driegen, Freja Beha, Anja Rubik etc. plus fifties flair with 3/4 glitter pants, followed by pointy punps with floppy bows preferrably in black and in combination with some denim here and there, a little bit of implied schoulder, colorful silky prints still muted and appropriate for the cooler season and voila ready to go, all the winter cravings.

Wien- (k)eine Modestadt?

Gestern Abend wurde im Westlicht über dieses durchaus interessante Thema diskutiert. Eingeladen waren allerlei Vertreter der Medien, Wirtschaft und auch direkt vom Fach um sich dieser Frage zu stellen. Heute einen Tag nach dem Event habe auch ich mir so meine Gedanken gemacht. Ist Wien eine Modestadt? Kann Wien überhaupt eine Modestadt sein oder besser noch muss sie das überhaupt?

Als in Wien lebender Mode interessierter Mensch kommt einem schnell das Grauen, wenn man an einem sonnigen Samstag Nachmittag die Mariahilferstrasse entlang geht und die Herden im gleichen Einheits- Modetrend (ähm, Leggings mit Jeansmini und Bluse) gekleideten jungen aber auch alten Menschen sieht. Wer Geld hat und sich Marken leisten kann, ist modisch. Wo ist die Individualität geblieben? Wo der Sinn zum eigen sein? Anscheinend irgendwann verloren gegangen. Wenn man dann hört, dass sich die Wirtschaftskammer damit rühmt, das Wien zur Zeiten des Wiener Kongress einen Modehauptstadt war, wundert man sich auch nur noch. Dem Durchschnittswiener fehlt es also an modischem Instinkt.

Als ich vor gut einem halbem Jahr von London, der Stadt die modisch immer am Puls ist und in der man mehr individuell gekleidete Menschen auf der Strasse sieht, als sonst wo,nach Wien zurückgekommen bin, habe ich aber feststellen dürfen, dass Wien sehr wohl eine kleine aber durchaus feine "Modeszene", die fern ab von High Society Bussi Bussi Getue, sich nach dem Rampenlicht sehnenden "Haute- Couture" Designern und sich immer wiederholenden Lifestyle Magazinen, die weder first sind noch Flair haben, hat.

Es geht um das gemeinsame kreative arbeiten. Man unterstützt sich und steht auf den Schultern der anderen. Man lässt seiner Kreativität freien Lauf und tut einfach. Trägt seine Arbeit in die Welt hinaus und kann auch auf internationalem Level bestehen. (es gehört zum guten österreichischen Ton, dass man zuerst im Ausland Erfolg haben muss, um halbwegs im Vaterland anerkannt zu werden. Österreichisches Design in Österreich zu kaufen war vor allem früher fast so schwer, wie diversen Leuten klar zu machen, dass Solarium verbrannte Haut nicht- nein wirklich nicht- schön ist!) So viel Talent schlummert hier und wartet nur darauf hinauszukommen und zu strahlen. Independent Magazine, bei denen es beim durchblättern Peng! macht und die man nicht mehr aus der Hand legen will. - Das ist für mich die Modestadt Wien.

Designer, Stylisten, Journalisten, Junge, Ältere, die sich etwas trauen und die über schiefe Blicke auf der Strasse hinweg schauen. Die nicht lang nachdenken, sondern einfach Spass mit Mode haben. Es gibt sie. Vor allem in der Nacht kommen diese Geschöpfe heraus und präsentieren ihre ganz eigene Interpretation des Wiener Stils. - Das ist für mich die Modestadt Wien.

Veranstaltungen, die von talentierten und motivierten Menschen organisiert werden und die ganz im Zeichen österreichischem Design stehen unterlegt mit ungezwungener Stimmung und viel Spass am einfach jetzt und hier sein. - Das ist für mich die Modestadt Wien.

Wir sind einen Million Menschen hier im schönen Wien. Vergleiche zu London, Paris oder New York sind an den Haaren herbeigezogen. Brauchen wir auch nicht. Viele sagen, Wien ist am Weg Berlin zu werden. Finde ich auch schrecklich. Wien hat es nicht nötig Berlin zu werden. Wien ist Wien. Wie schrullig und hinten her es in manchen Dingen auch sein mag. Wien hat seinen eigenen Charme. Wien ist anders. So lange wir, die Modeinteressierten dieser schönen Stadt an der Donau, weitermachen, einfach unser Ding durchziehen und Mode als Spass und schönen Zeitvertreib sehen, nicht abheben und beginnen uns mit anderen Städten zu messen, sehen ich die Zukunft Wiens rosig. Wir leben in einer aufregenden Zeit, in der viel passiert. Es brodelt und bald wird der Kessel explodieren.
