Yesterday. Somerset House. The St. Martins Graduation Show took place and I was luckily enough to get a ticket. After a touching interview with Alexander Mc Queen who talked about St. Martins being more a school for life than a fashion school, the first model entered the catwalk. (or should I say slip on the catwalk? The models had some major problems with walking)
Overall I liked the show. I especially loved the men's wear. I really think that creating some innovative menswear that is new fresh and outstanding is way more interesting than doing women's wear.
What's really great here in London is that all the designers just do what they want. They don't care about sales figures or anything else. There is so much creativity!
A lot of structure, volume, asymmetry, white, beige, paired with some color here and there- the collections are so different as the used materials. From leather to jersey and silk.
